信号機の話題が R25の記事 で取りあげられていた。秋田道夫氏がデザインしたLED式の薄型信号機は、すでに都内ではあちらこちら見かけるようになった。信号機なんて大して変わり映えしないと思っていたけれど、薄型に見慣れると旧式はごつく視界を占有するんだな、とわかっておもしろい。 どうやらLED式の薄型信号機にも種類があるようで、銀座三越前でやっていた歩行者信号音の実験で一時的に設置されていたカウントダウン式のモデルと同じような種類はあまり見かけない。秋田氏のデザインした信号機を製造している 信号電材 という会社の中の人のブログを読んでいたら、LEDの色が違う感じでうろ覚えだけれども銀座の時と 同じタイプのモデルの写真 があった。ボクはこのカウントダウン式のモデルが気に入っているので増えると嬉しい。 信号機の例をとっても見慣れた風景の中でも無意識に五感が受ける情報のカタチはいくらでも改善できるものだな。銀座の実験は終わってしまったけれど、現在新横浜北口の新横浜国際ホテル前で同様の実験をやっているみたい。視覚ばかりでなく聴覚でも改善できるのかどうか、信号音の実験も試してみるとおもしろいと思う。 で、巡回していたら有機ELキーボードOptimusでお馴染みのロシアのArt.Lebedev Studioから、 Luxofor という信号機とAirCrosswalkという横断歩道のデザインコンセプトモデルを engadgetの記事 が取りあげていた。ふむふむ。Luxoforは庇や襟の角張った無骨さがOptimusにテイストが似ている彼ららしい信号機に仕上がっている。でも若干ガンダムを連想させるしゴツいから、やはり 余計な主張しない 秋田氏のアイデアで角のない一体型のデザインで、ボクの好みはもう少し現行の黒縁アルミニウムのiMacっぽい感じのテイストの信号機をみてみたいな。 一方、 AirCrosswalk はおもしろくなる可能性が大きいアイデアかもしれない。このように暗闇でも横断歩道を注視させるような作り込みや Virtual Wall のようなアイデアもアリだし、またf-shinさんが tweetしていた ような、 この道は歩道がないので、アクセル踏んでも20km/hしかでません といった状況を車間距離自動制御システムのような感じで道路環境からアプローチできたらどうな

東京ミッドタウンホールにて 深澤直人 +ジェームスアーヴィン+コンスタンティングルチッチが連続して登壇。アーヴィン氏は丸く小さい感じでグルチッチ氏は高く細い感じな対照的な二人。 ” ミニマリズム とは、シンプルということではなく完全に調和しているということ。調和したデザインは、空気が変わる。何かいいと感じる” "もし、みんなが前へ前へと出たがるのならばMUJIは退かなければならない。それらはいうなれば わきまえ である。" ”MUJIがいいではなくてMUJIでいい” このMUJIの話は深澤さんや 原研哉 さんのインタビューや著書で見かけた話だったけれども、あらためて考えさせられる内容でした。 なるほど深澤さんはnextmaruniで椅子を手がけていたけれども、本当にやりたかったのはこのMUJIとTHONETみたいな取り組みなのだなと。

都市のディオラマ : Between Site & Space

Born in 1981, Tomoko Shioyasu majored in sculpture at the Kyoto City University of Arts. In 2005, the year after graduating, she won the Grand Prix at the 6th Spiral Independent Creators Festival (SICF). She then exhibited in the Fukutake House at the Echigo-Tsumari Art Triennial 2006, and was selected for the 2007 VOCA exhibition. As the range of her work expands, it is met by great acclaim, including this year's Most Promising Young Talent Prize in the Fine Art Division of the Gotoh Memorial Cultural Award. Next year, she plans to use the grant associated with the Gotoh Memorial Cultural Award to conduct research and work in China and Europe, which promises to bring additional depth to her work. This exhibition is the second collaboration following “Gelman/Davis” which was held by Andrew Roth Gallery, New York, in 2005. Alexander Gelman is an artist who works through various media, such as videos, graphics, and installations, where he employs his ideas of “Subtraction.” His work has been collected by MOMA and the Smithsonian library. Paul Davis is the English artist best known for his coruscating humor and fine/ugly drawing. He has many fans in Japan, Europe, America and beyond.
